- Olmeca uses a blend of Blanco and Reposado to create Gold, while competitors often use Blanco adding some artificial caramel coloring to reach the gold color.
- Gold tequilas are often referred to as Joven (young) or Oro.

- Sauza: Hailing from the lowlands of the tequila region, agaves grown in this region mature faster so don’t have the same sweetness of agaves grown in the Highlands. Lowland tequilas also tend to have an earthier flavor.
